About the Organisation

To be an active member of the Research Office within the Asia School of Business (ASB), where the research office serves to plan, organise and operationalise research management and dissemination in the Asia School of Business. The research office is aimed at research development, planning, administration and dissemination for the Asia School of Business, working within the research cluster and also across the different departments. The Research Communications Manager is crucial in establishing the Research Office as the node for research-related activities. As the founding member of the research office, the Research Communications Manager will also be a key member in developing the processes of the research office and research management.

Job Purpose
The Research Communications Manager in the Research Office leads in planning, developing and implementing communication and outreach strategies to effectively promote research work in ASB, as well as increase public awareness of its impact and understanding in Malaysia and beyond.

 

The Research Office is looking for a person who can lead in managing cross-channel content production including social media content production, build relationships with key stakeholders, build internal communication expertise, and convert complex research findings into targeted communications using design elements that are simple, accessible, and actionable. The Research Communications Manager will also assist in guiding and dissemination of research activities in ASB.

 

The Research Communications Manager must have a passion for assisting in developing and implementing analytics-driven and audience-sensitive communication strategy, and an excellent ability to express complex policy and research in written, spoken, multimedia and social media formats.

Key Responsibilities:
• To lead the designing and executing of the research communications strategy in ASBto facilitate the collation and dissemination of research findings through thepublication of research, the organizing of research events and the development of itssocial media outreach and other channels.
• To work together with the Research Office team in planning and executing ResearchOffice events.
• To assist researchers, Faculty and research centres in guiding, promoting anddisseminating research events.
• To assist in the coordination with outsourced designers, freelancers, writers oragencies whenever required for communication outputs for ASB.
• To assist in the development and design of concepts for publications, reports,presentations, and other print and electronic materials for research communication outputs.
• To maintain on-brand messaging across all research communication outputs.
• To assist in the media coverage of content related to research activities in ASB.
• To build and maintain relationships with the media.
• To lead in managing and mentoring the Research Communications team in the Research Office.
• To assist in the general operations of the Research Office if required.

Minimum Qualification and Skills Required
• Degree in Communications, Marketing and other relevant qualifications arepreferred. Masters degree is welcomed.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills for communicating research to non-technical audiences.
• Excellent skills in design and social media outreach skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and BahasaMalaysia.

Qualifications & Skills

  1. Holds a university degree in Accounting and/or Finance, complemented by membership and professional qualification in the same field(s).
  2. Demonstrates extensive and comprehensive knowledge, coupled with practical experience in both Accounting and/or Finance.

Experience

  1. Extensive professional and management experience at a senior level, ideally with exposure to the higher education institutions or publicly funded organizations.
  2. A well-rounded background, including external audit and commercial experience, demonstrating a focus on stakeholder engagement.
  3. Strong analytical skills with excellent interpersonal, presentation, and influencing capabilities.
  4. Demonstrable expertise in financial control and analysis, showcasing a deep understanding of fiscal management.
  5. Experience in spearheading the development and implementation of centralized procurement units, demonstrating a proven ability to optimize purchasing strategies, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure cost-effective resource allocation.
  6. Proven track record in risk management, encompassing identification, comprehensive assessment, and highly effective mitigation of financial risks.
  7. Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, with a demonstrated ability to leverage on technology for enhanced financial management.

Minimum Qualification and Skills Required

  • Excellent command of English and Malay (spoken and written) – both in research writing and also on business writing. 
  • Excellent general administration and Project Management skills.
  • Excellent skills in using Microsoft office software and other project planning tools.
  • Excellent organisational and collaboration skills, strong team player that can lead and delegate to teams.
  • Self-motivated to initiate, operate and manage multiple different operations in the research project and research center.
  • Timely and detailed-oriented in managing operations and administration.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years working experience in relevant field.

Remuneration

The base salary will be in the range of RM5,500 to RM6,500, and EPF, SOCSO and insurance will be included.
