COMPLIANCE MANAGER

Location: Kuala Lumpur
Reports to: General Counsel, Legal and Corporate Secretarial Department

Job Summary:

We are seeking a proficient Compliance Officer to ensure that our education institution operates in full compliance with legal and ethical standards. The Compliance Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing compliance programs and initiatives to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and internal policies. The Compliance Officer will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders to promote a culture of compliance, integrity, and ethical conduct.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement enhance and manage an annual compliance
  • Ensure that policies cover areas such as academic integrity, student admissions, financial aid, research ethics, data privacy, and other relevant compliance areas.
  • Act as a Compliance advisor to address simple internal queries relating to compliance requirements, compliance policies, compliance training and awareness and any other required ad-hoc task from stakeholders.
  • Act as a custodian of the monitoring framework. Ensure that monitoring procedures are aligned with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Establish monitoring and auditing processes to assess compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to evaluate the effectiveness of compliance controls, identify deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Identify, assess, and prioritize compliance risks inherent in business school
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and action plans to address identified risks and
  • Cooperate with school leadership and departments to monitor enforcement of standards and
  • Investigate non-compliance issue, allegations of misconduct, or breaches of
  • Gather evidence, conduct interviews, and document findings in accordance with established
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to resolve compliance issues and implement disciplinary actions if necessary.
  • Prepare reports   and    documentation   related   to    compliance    activities,   findings, and recommendations for senior management, governing bodies, and regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure that reports are accurate, comprehensive, and timely, and comply with reporting
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments and industry trends within in the business
  • Communicate compliance expectations, updates, and developments to key stakeholders and external partners.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of controls and continuously improve
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, business administration, or a related Advanced degree (e.g., JD, MBA) or professional certification (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional) preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory affairs, preferably in a higher education or academic environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant laws & regulations (i.e. Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Whistleblowing, Personal Data Protection etc.) and standards governing higher education institutions, accreditation bodies, and business schools.
  • Possess an inquisitive mind-set and a willingness to learn new
