Senior Research Associate (ARC)
Reports to: Deputy Dean of Research, Associate Professor II of Economics
Job Purpose
To be an active member of the research team within the ASEAN Research Center to become a center of intellectual activity in Southeast Asia by conducting impactful research on topics surrounding emerging markets in the ASEAN region. The senior research associate is an important member in assisting in conducting, publishing and disseminating rigourous and impactful research to inform policy-making and improve lives of ASEAN citizens especially in emerging markets. The ASEAN Research Center hosts a flagship research project and various smaller research project each year, while actively engaging the academic, policymaking, private sector and public audiences on the research outputs from the center.
General Descriptions
- Actively perform and lead parts of the ARC’s flagship research projects, from planning and initiating the research project, literature review, data collection, analysis, writing, and dissemination to ensure the successful publication of research output within the planned period.
- Lead, with guidance from the senior members of the ARC, in personal research projects, from planning and initiating research projects, literature review, data collection, analysis, writing, and dissemination, to ensure the successful publication of research output within the planned period.
- Organize and run research events, workshops, seminars, and events of the ARC for the dissemination of the research output and greater engagements between the research centers and the wider research community.
- Lead research output dissemination to relevant stakeholders from policymakers, private sector stakeholders, civil society stakeholders and the public to create research impact from the research project.
- Supervise the ARC’s research associates, especially for research projects which they lead.
- Lead in the general promotion of the ARC’s output and activities to increase awareness.
- Engage with the wider research community globally for the ARC to build a wider research network.
- Participate in the general administrative activities of the ARC.
Minimum Qualification and Skills Required
- Masters Degree in Social Sciences preferred, with 3 years minimum research-related experience.
- Good command of English and Malay (spoken and written).
- Advanced knowledge in research data collection and analysis methodology and tools either in qualitative or quantitative methods.
- Ability to independently learn qualitative and quantitative research data collection and analysis methodology.
