Master of Business Administration
Asia School of Business. One transformative year in Kuala Lumpur. A lifetime of consequence.
MBA Admissions
An intentionally diverse cohort that values intelligence, curiosity, and proactive change-makers. If you are a pioneer at heart, this page is your map.
The earlier ones are quietly the most generous.
Applications close at 3:00 PM Malaysia Standard Time on each deadline and must include all documents and your recommendation letter. Rounds 1 and 2 carry a higher chance of admission and the broadest access to fellowship funding.
International applicants: apply by Round 4 at the latest. Student visa processing needs the runway. We welcome Malaysian candidates on a rolling basis throughout the cycle.

ASB selects candidates with a high degree of intellectual capability and emotional maturity from a competitive international pool. We look for people who have performed at a superior level academically, pursued their own goals with conviction, and carry real professional experience into the room.
Bachelor’s degree
A bachelor’s degree or a proven equivalent from a recognized institution.
Professional experience
Two years or more is strongly encouraged. Our class averages around seven.
English proficiency
With exemptions for native speakers and those who completed their degree in English.
GMAT or GRE
Not required, but strongly encouraged. A strong score is one of the clearest routes to a Merit Fellowship.
Not sure you qualify? The strongest applications often come from people who almost talked themselves out of applying.
What we seek, how to prepare, and a direct path to the portal.
Applying to a program like this should feel considered, not bureaucratic. Below is everything you need to apply with confidence whenever you are ready.
Apply online
Complete the application and upload your documents. There is no application fee.
Our admissions committee reviews your application holistically, looking at your record, your trajectory, and the person behind them.
A roughly 45-minute conversation, in a hub city or on Zoom. It is a dialogue, not an interrogation.
You will be notified through the portal. To secure your place, admitted candidates confirm with the enrolment deposit.
Candidates invited to interview are asked to prepare a one-page presentation slide, uploaded to the Application Portal as an executive summary. It may be presented during the session at the interviewer’s discretion.

Answer these two:
- Why an MBA, and why ASB?
- How will you contribute to the cohort and the class experience?
List work and education in reverse chronological order, dated by month and year, focusing on accomplishments rather than duties. Account for any employment gaps.
Extracurricular and other material appropriate to a business resume is welcome.
Upload official transcripts from every program in which you received a degree, alongside the corresponding diploma or degree certificate.
Not in English? Provide a notarised translation. Upload both the original and the translation.
Not on a 4.0 scale? Include a description of your institution’s grading scale, or supplementary official documentation. A Scholaro CGPA equivalent, or a WES or ECE credential evaluation, also works.
Unofficial or student copies are accepted at the application stage. If admitted, you must supply sealed official transcripts from every school. Discrepancies may result in withdrawal of an offer.
We accept GMAT, GRE, or the Executive Assessment with no preference between them. Include percentiles. You may self-report within the application and have official scores sent to ASB.

One professional letter, ideally from your current manager. Provide a second recommender’s contact details in case an additional reference is needed, which is especially common for entrepreneurial backgrounds. Family and friends are not accepted.
Your recommender answers three questions, roughly 50 words each:
- What do you value most in the applicant
- What areas of improvement would you suggest?
- How does their performance compare to peers in similar roles?
Must be submitted online. Email submissions are not accepted. Corporate mail servers sometimes block automated email, so confirm receipt and ask them to whitelist admissions@asb.edu.my. Your application is only complete once the recommendation arrives.
Required to be considered for a Scholarship or an ASB Fellowship. Answer two of the three below. If you submit more than two, only the first two will be evaluated.
- Q1 · Describe your envisioned short and long-term career path, the “why” behind it, and the impact you hope to create. How will ASB’s MBA accelerate that journey?
- Q2 · Reflect on one decision, challenge, or experience that has most influenced your professional journey. How has it shaped the leader you are, and how does an MBA fit what comes next?
- Q3 · Who were you five years ago, and who do you want to be five years from now? What beliefs or habits have evolved, and how will the MBA be a catalyst in that transformation?
