Empowering Future Leaders: ASB’s InvestED Program Prepares Graduates for the Capital Market

In August, the Asia School of Business (ASB) held investED, a dynamic program for 200 fresh graduates, sponsored by the Securities Commission (SC) Malaysia. The initiative, designed by ASB to empower future leaders, aimed to equip participants with real-world skills in the capital markets industry.

Participants engaged in sessions focused on securing roles in top financial institutions like investment banks, private equity firms, and asset management companies. A week spent at the SC gave them firsthand insights into capital markets operations, with ASB faculty delivering key lessons to ensure the program remained informative and innovative.

Beyond technical training in capital market products and investments, investED emphasized creativity and sustainability through hands-on challenges. Participants repurposed everyday materials into functional products within an hour and explored the SusGain app to deepen their understanding of recycling and the circular economy. Other standout activities included the Living Ethics board game, sparking discussions on ethical decision-making, a business hackathon tackling real-world challenges, and a documentary on the global financial crisis, offering lessons on financial resilience and navigating turbulent markets.

The program uniquely blended technical skills with ethics, sustainability in action, and leadership, offering a holistic learning experience. A roster of high-profile speakers contributed their expertise to the program. Securities Commission Chairman Dato’ Mohammad Faiz Azmi spoke on ethical leadership and financial planning, while Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad CEO Encik Muzaffar Othman emphasized the power of purpose and discipline. Khairy Jamaluddin offered personal insights into his transition from politics to media. The program concluded with a panel featuring SIDC CEO Tengku Zarina Tengku Chik and Encik Hisham Ibrahim, who shared practical advice on career expectations.

investED is part of ASB’s mission to shape the next generation of leaders—those who excel in finance while driving sustainability and ethical practices. With overwhelmingly positive feedback, ASB looks forward to welcoming future cohorts and continuing the journey of innovation and leadership in the capital market.
