The Asia School of Business (ASB) hosted Dr Robert Kaestner from the University of Chicago as part of its Research Seminar Series (RSS), an ongoing event that continues to bring together leading academics from around the globe.
Dr Kaestner’s presentation, “Effects of Family Income on Child Academic Achievement: Evidence from Changes in the Minimum Wage,” was a thought-provoking exploration of how family income levels influence children’s educational outcomes. His study explores whether families with higher earnings invest more in their child’s education, thereby potentially improving the child’s academic performance. The presentation sparked lively discussions and deep engagement from the ASB community.
Spearheaded by the ASB Research Office, this seminar series facilitates intellectual exchange between global thought leaders and ASB’s own researchers. It has become a key platform for sharing pioneering research and fostering discussions that push the boundaries of academic inquiry.
Speaking to the significance of the series, Dr Melati Nungsari, ASB Deputy Dean of Research, Associate Professor of Economics, and Research Affiliate at MIT Sloan School of Management, commented: “The ASB Research Seminar Series brings academics from around the world to the heart of Southeast Asia at the Asia School of Business. It is a dynamic platform where researchers present their groundbreaking work, fostering meaningful discussions for improvement. Regularly hosted by the ASB Research Office, it serves as a community at the forefront of knowledge dissemination.”
