Alexander Eng’s Paper Earns Editor’s Choice Recognition

Congratulations to our faculty member, Alexander Eng, Associate Professor I of Organizational Behavior, on his recent recognition!

We are proud to share that Alexander’s paper,“Artificial Intelligence and Machines Are Capable of Harm, but Not of Experiencing Punishment,” co-authored with Kai Chi Yam, has been selected as an Editor’s Choice by the Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, published by the American Psychological Association (APA).

The Editor’s Choice distinction recognizes papers for their potential to make a significant impact on the field or advance an important future direction for science. Only one paper per issue is selected, placing Alexander’s work among roughly the top 6% of published papers in the journal.

His research explores how people respond when artificial intelligence and machines cause harm, including whether punishing machines can restore the same sense of justice as punishing human wrongdoers. The findings offer important perspectives on accountability and justice as AI takes on an increasingly significant role in society.

This recognition reflects the impactful research our faculty is advancing and ASB’s commitment to research that addresses important questions shaping our future.
