What distinguishes foreign exchange interventions that are stabilizing, from those that can be seen as manipulative? Join us for a seminar that proposes an approach to exchange rate policy rules that discourages both currency manipulation and spurious allegations of manipulation The proposal is based on counterfactual matching techniques that can be used to test for causal links between intervention policies and exchange rate movements.
