Discipline: International Law

Abstract
This chapter explores how aspects of American Christianity became international law through certain UN treaties and how international ‘development’ inspires faith in its necessity akin to American Evangelical faith. It argues that while the ‘Social Gospel’ shaped international ‘human rights’ and ‘development’ institutions, ‘Evangelicalism’ sustained and reshaped faith in both.
